Those, who having played, moved on....
This page is dedicated to those people who used to be in the band.
Allan Little: Was with the band from its inception. However after a while the rest of us wanted to "up" the tempo, pace, volume and number of gigs. Unfortunately Allan's left hand was unable to keep up (health wise). Thanks Allan.
Mel Gurney: Replaced Allan and made some great "charts" for himself (and us!). He decided he didn't want to play "live" any more (with us anyway!) Thanks Mel
Phil Hope: Played just to "help out" when Mel left and pretty much gigged for a year. Thanks Phil.
Dave Reardon: The foundation Bass Player and one of the instigators of Itchycoo Park. Dave actually came up with the bands name. Left the band on May 2005 due to being transferred to the USA with his job. Thanks Dave for you tiredless effort with the band and you many years of carrying around the PA all over the country. All the best for you new exciting job location.
Ned (David ) Knowles
We suspected we were in for
an interesting time when Ned arrived for his "audition" with the band
(or did he audition us) pulling his self made "Rednef" (Fender backwards)
amplifier and battered Strat. After saying how nervous he was he then ripped into
Free's "Alright Now" leaving the rest of the band in his wake. In the
7 years Ned was with The Itchy's he constantly amazed us, and the guitar worshippers
on the dance floor with his flamboyant guitar playing. From playing his guitar
behind his head a la Hendrix at The Sinn Feinn Motorcycle clubrooms or a fantastic
Guitar-harmonica duel with Tim from Taihape at the Masterton Golden Shears Ned
gave 100% every time he played. His onstage humour such as comments during "Lazy
Sunday", peering over the top of Greg's songbook or "Teddybears Picnic"
during "You Really Got Me" will be missed. We sure hope the future for
you Ned is incredibly bright.
