Bernard Fouhy
By day I repair TV's with the help of my wife Colleen (the backing singer in Itchycoo Park) and by night I am the Drummer in ITCHYCOO PARK.
The first College Band I was in with Dave Reardon was called "The House of Lords". (The British connection even back then). Since the band had a guitarist and a bassist it was decided that I would be the drummer. Our first practise involved me hitting the top of the family heater! Once I had purchased my first drum kit I had to use the photo on the front of a Ventures LP to work out how to set it up. The first song we played at practise was "And Then I Kissed Her" by The Beachboys. I had no idea what to hit and when to hit it so Dave would nod his head when it was time to hit the bass drum. Not only did this mean I was behind the beat all the time but it also made Dave look like an idiot.
A midlife crisis after 25 years of all work and no play made me take up the drums again and help form ITCHYCOO PARK with some of my favorite people. I also get to play my favorite R'nB song of all time which is "Tin Soldier " by The Small Faces. I reckon I might even be good enough now to drum "And Then I kissed Her".
